To machine workpieces completely in a single vacuum clamping operation, WITTE offers the VAC-MAT vacuum clamping system. This system allows for reliable machining of breakthroughs, slots, and similar features in a single setup, as well as the machining of contours and chamfers. The use of the VAC-MAT vacuum clamping system significantly speeds up and simplifies such manufacturing processes, eliminating the need for costly rework.
Sustainable precision
The VAC-MAT vacuum plate is covered with elastic plastic mats. These thin, soft mats have vacuum suction holes that allow air to be evacuated from between the workpiece and the contact surface. On the underside of the mats are small plastic pins for positioning them on the vacuum plate. Precise work with the vacuum plate is guaranteed by the accuracy of the mats, which have a thickness tolerance of 0.04 millimeters. Recesses on the outer areas of the mats allow for the use of stops, making it easier to align the workpiece.
The plastic mats are also suitable for wet machining with common cooling emulsions and can be used without limitation at temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius. The mats of the VAC-MAT vacuum clamping system are reusable—only damaged mats need to be replaced.
Expandable thanks to the "Lego Principle"
Similar to grid plates, the mats are also suitable for various machining tasks and materials. The VAC-MAT vacuum clamping system works even with just 60% of the plate's surface occupied by the workpiece. The unused clamping area does not need to be covered or separated.
For large-format clamping plates, the VAC-MAT modular plates are connected using simple adapters, ensuring a continuous vacuum supply across the system.
